HRnet's projects translate our three-pillar model into concrete action. Each project is designed to produce measurable outcomes — whether peer-reviewed publications, trained researchers, or communities reached with evidence-based health information.
Né du partenariat entre HRnet et le CEV-UdM, le Programme de publication des mémoires de Master met les étudiants MASPEL et MASTEL en relation avec des mentors expérimentés de HRnet après leur soutenance. HRnet's inaugural programme is a 20-week, fully online capacity development initiative that trains emerging researchers in the art and science of writing competitive grant proposals for health research and community-based projects in Central Africa.
Unlike conventional training workshops that end with a certificate, this programme ends with real submissions to real funders. Every intern develops and submits a minimum of three complete funding proposals to competitive grant-making bodies by the end of the programme. This is learning by doing at its most consequential.
The programme is entirely free for participants. HRnet's auto-financing model — based on a 15% institutional overhead on successfully funded projects — means that the organisation invests in interns upfront and sustains itself through the research it helps bring to life. This eliminates financial barriers and ensures that talent, not resources, determines who participates.
Cohort 1 comprises francophone interns from across Africa. Interns based in Central Africa (Cameroon, Chad, CAR, Congo, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon) may develop field-based research proposals. Interns outside Central Africa develop desk-based proposals. All proposals are submitted exclusively under HRnet as the institutional lead.

A systematic desk-based study to map the current landscape of health research priorities, funding flows, and evidence gaps across the seven Central African countries. This foundational exercise will inform HRnet's research agenda and identify high-impact areas where new evidence is most urgently needed.
ResearchA community engagement initiative designed to translate existing health research findings into accessible, culturally appropriate educational materials for communities in Cameroon. The programme will work with community health workers to disseminate evidence-based health information on priority topics.
Community EngagementFormalising research collaboration agreements with universities and research centres across Central Africa to build a regional network of institutions that can jointly pursue multi-country health research projects and share resources and expertise.
Capacity DevelopmentThe second cohort of HRnet's flagship capacity development programme, planned for November 2026. Building on lessons learned from Cohort 1, with an expanded curriculum and broader reach across francophone Africa. Waiting-list candidates from Cohort 1 have pre-admission.
Capacity DevelopmentStrong health research can stall when an independent researcher, clinician, academic, or early-career scientist has no eligible institution to host a grant. Research Home is open to researchers worldwide, with preference given to African researchers and academics with expertise in Central Africa, and connects credible projects with HRnet's legal, financial, and research infrastructure.
Through institutional hosting, proposal development, and research affiliation, the programme helps important African health questions reach funders while protecting scientific ownership and strengthening accountability.
